"Namaste and warm greetings! It is my honor to welcome you to the official website of Blood Donors Society Nepal.
What began as a simple belief—that no one should lose a life due to lack of blood—has now grown into a dynamic and impactful national movement. With the dedication of our team and the generosity of thousands of donors, we have been able to make a meaningful difference in Nepal's blood management sector.
Since our establishment in 2077, we have continuously worked to strengthen voluntary blood donation. From setting a national record in 2025 by collecting 1717 pints of blood in a single location, to completing the ambitious Mechi–Mahakali Blood Donation Awareness Campaign across 32 districts, our journey has been defined by purpose, teamwork, and unwavering commitment.
Today, our organization is actively involved in daily emergency blood management, connecting patients with lifesaving donors. Alongside this, we continue to expand awareness programs, empowering communities and encouraging regular voluntary blood donation across the country.
As Founder & President, I am committed to leading more innovative and service-focused projects that uplift our health and humanitarian ecosystem. Together—with unity, compassion, and the spirit of service—we can build a Nepal where safe blood is accessible to every individual in need. Eligibility Criteria for Blood Donation
To ensure the safety of both donors and recipients, donors must meet these requirements
Age & Weight
- Between 18 to 65 years old
- Minimum weight of 45 kg (110 lbs)
- Good general health condition
Health Requirements
- Hemoglobin level: ≥12.5 g/dL
- Normal blood pressure
- Body temperature: ≤37.5°C
- Pulse rate: 50-100 beats/min
Donation Intervals
- Whole blood: Every 3 months
- Platelets: Every 2 weeks
- Plasma: Every 4 weeks
Temporary Deferrals
- Recent illness or infection
- Dental procedures (24-72 hours)
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Recent vaccinations
Medication & Treatment
- Most medications are acceptable
- Antibiotics (complete course needed)
- Cancer treatment (deferral period)
Travel History
- Malaria endemic areas (deferral)
- Recent international travel
- Consult with screening staff
